WISH LIST

Vera's Garden is always a work in progress. We are in need of financial donations to help us with some of our projects. Some of the features we would like to add are as follows:

We would like to retrieve ornate stone parts from buildings (especially the Metropolitan Building) that have been destroyed, to be used as additional seating, retaining walls, or decoration in the garden. These would be identified as to which building they came from and add an historic feature to the garden. The expense would be to purchase items and to have them transported and placed in the garden. If you would like more information about this project, contact us and we will supply photographs and a more detailed explanation of how the pieces would be used.

We would also like to add artwork - either permanent or temporary. Possibilities are old sculpture (or carved stone) from destroyed buildings, new original sculpture, or/and murals. These would have to be approved by the city and county.

We would like to construct a water feature including running water and a small pond. Running water is a great way to mask the sound of street traffic. It also provides water for wild life and a place for water-loving plants. We would like to power this with solar power.

We would like to build a small gazebo near the Garfield Ave. So. Bridge. Several designs with an open, airy atmosphere are being considered for this project.

We also still need to purchase flowering or evergreen ornamental shrubs and trees (especially small and/or weeping crabapple and low growing evergreens) and native plants. Occasionally we receive some by donation, but most have to be purchased. We also have ongoing expenses, such as water, membership to Minnesota Green, that have to be paid.

We always welcome donations of plants, boulders, flagstone, fieldstone, and other landscaping supplies. Please contact us to make arrangements to deliver these or to have them picked up.
